About Me

I love films. I love music. Passionately. Not all of it, thank God, but a lot of it. If I could eat film and music, I would. I love talking about them and try my damnedest to not be snobby. I also get the same rush from some films and some music as much as the first time I experienced them. And that’s what I write about here.

Also I love food. If I could eat food, I–wait…

I was a sound editor for film, and now I produce documentaries and nonfiction TV. You can find out more about me professionally here.

I’m married, have a son and live in Brooklyn, NY, and you can also read about all of that occasionally on this blog.

  3. I just noticed you have a link to my blog. Thats so cool. Thank you. I wish I was a documentarian. Any advice for starting down that career path?

    • Hey! Yeah, I love your site. I’ve been sending people there–informally–for a about two years. One of the only blogs to make me laugh out loud on a regular basis. I should have posted some positive feedback to you at some point, just to share the love.

As for a career path, well, whoa, hard to say. Honestly, it’s never been a cash cow for me. Hell, it’s never even been a cash calf. I’ve stayed afloat working “in” the biz, in NYC, but not making my own projects. Still, if you have a natural inclination towards documentary and you like people (always a plus), the best way would be to make a short doc about something you love. Don’t fret the technology too much, but if you make something short, passionate and postable, you could generate some interest via your blog. I’m thinking of doing the same myself, with a few small ideas, to make a 3-5 minute film that will “premiere” on my blog. I don’t know what it would do for me professionally, but it would be different than what I’ve worked on (for money). My goal would be to have some fun and “finish” something. It’s sooooo easy to start a doc idea–about anything–and abandon it bec. it seems too daunting.

BTW, I’ve always liked your photography, too. You have a great eye and seem to really understand the benefits of digital photography.
